You search for March 9, 2024 and replace with March 19, 2024. You repeat the search on page 7 in case the wrong date appears twice. You export once.
If the contract is a scan of a signed printout, the date is probably an image. You draw a small white rectangle over the old date, then type March 19, 2024 in a text box aligned to the line. Print one paper copy before you email the client.
Example 2: a typo in an invoice line total
The line reads “Qty 4 × $312.10.” The math gives $1,248.40, but the PDF shows $1,148.40 in the line total field.
When the digits are real text, you click the total, change 1148 to 1248, and re-check with a calculator. When the total is baked into a scan, you cover $1,148.40 with a patch, then type $1,248.40 in a new text box.
Money errors create disputes. Always compare every currency field after you edit, not only the line you touched.
Example 3: adding a signature to a 3-page form
You have a 3-page rental form. The signature line sits on page 3 only.
You add a PNG signature with a transparent background. You place it on the line, then scale the image to about 140 pixels wide so it resembles ink width on paper.
You export, then print a test page with normal margins. Printer drivers can clip edges by 3 to 5 millimeters compared to what you see on screen.

It cannot guarantee that every PDF will allow deep text surgery. Some files restrict edits, embed odd fonts, or flatten content.
It cannot replace legal, tax, or design review when the wording or layout has formal rules.
It cannot recover a password you never had. Unlock flows belong in a separate password tool.
It cannot turn a noisy phone photo of a contract into perfect native text without a dedicated OCR step somewhere in your workflow.
